Food is identity. The meals we eat connect us to family, place, and history. A pantry that only stocks one kind of bread, one kind of rice, and one kind of cooking oil quietly tells some neighbors they are not fully at home.
We are working to do better. Our shelves now include masa harina, basmati rice, corn tortillas, kidney and pinto and black beans, halal-certified shelf-stable proteins, and a growing assortment of spices common in Hmong, Mexican, and East African cooking.
If you are a community member with cultural knowledge to share, we would love to learn from you. Suggestions, donations, and conversations are all welcome.
Respect is not an extra. It is the whole job.
