Fall Meal Planning When Schedules Get Hectic

December 5, 2024 · 5 min read

Fall brings full calendars: school activities, sports, work deadlines, holidays creeping closer. The temptation to live on takeout grows daily. A simple meal plan is the antidote.

Pick a planning night, usually Sunday, and write five dinners on a sheet of paper stuck to the fridge. Choose dinners with overlapping ingredients. Roast a chicken Sunday, use the leftovers in Monday's tacos and Tuesday's soup.

Pre-chop vegetables once a week. Twenty minutes Sunday saves hours during the week and makes 'just throw it together' meals genuinely fast.

Embrace the slow cooker. Five minutes of morning prep produces dinner that is ready when practice ends. Beans, chili, pulled chicken, soup. The categories repeat for a reason.

Build in one truly easy night a week. Pasta with jarred sauce and a bagged salad is a perfectly respectable dinner. So is breakfast for dinner.
