Garden-to-Pantry: How Home Gardeners Feed Their Neighbors
May 10, 2025 · 4 min read
Every August, our coolers fill with the most beautiful tomatoes, peppers, squash, and beans, almost all donated by home gardeners who could not possibly eat their own harvests. It is one of the loveliest parts of summer at the pantry.
We accept clean, undamaged produce during distribution hours. A quick call ahead helps us prepare cooler space and make sure your gift reaches families the same day.
If you are considering planting a row 'for the pantry' next season, we suggest beans, summer squash, peppers, root vegetables, and salad greens. They harvest easily and travel well. Anything you grow with care, we will distribute with care.
